Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using LetsRide

1. General Platform Information

1.1 What is LetsRide?

LetsRide is a transparent bidding marketplace that connects tourists visiting Sri Lanka with verified, trusted vehicle owners. Instead of guessing fares, negotiating with strangers at airports, or relying on fixed-rate taxi apps that overcharge foreigners, tourists post their trip details, and multiple verified vehicle owners compete to win the booking by offering their best price.

1.2 How much does it cost to use LetsRide?

The platform is 100% free for tourists, hotels, and travel agents. We do not charge booking fees, service charges, or hidden costs. You only pay the vehicle owner the bid amount you agreed upon.

1.3 Does LetsRide handle payments and transactions?

Important: No, we do not handle transactions.

LetsRide is simply the platform designed to connect you with verified vehicle owners and allow you to receive competitive bids. All payments must be settled directly between the traveller and the vehicle owner.

2. Booking & Trip Planning

2.1 How does the bidding process work?

When you post a trip, it becomes visible to our pool of verified vehicle owners. They will review your itinerary (including all stops, dates, and vehicle preferences) and submit a competitive bid. You can then review all bids side-by-side, check vehicle photos and owner profiles, and accept the bid that best fits your budget and style.

2.2 How do I plan my trip and communicate?

Once you accept a bid from a vehicle owner, a private chat channel will open between you and them on our platform. All finer trip planning, itinerary adjustments, and direct communication should be done directly by the traveller and the vehicle owner. We provide the secure communication channel, but the specific coordination is up to you.

2.3 Can I plan multi-day or multi-stop tours?

Absolutely! Sri Lanka tourism often involves multi-stop tours spanning days or weeks. You can post one-way trips, round trips, or full multi-stop itineraries (e.g., Colombo → Sigiriya → Kandy → Ella → Galle). You will specify the dates for each stop, and vehicle owners will provide one comprehensive bid for the entire journey.

3. Vehicles & Safety

3.1 Are the vehicle owners and vehicles verified?

Yes. Trust and safety are our top priorities. Every vehicle owner goes through a strict multi-layer verification process before they can place bids. This includes verifying their National Identity Card (NIC), checking their vehicle registration details, requiring mandatory recent vehicle photos, and passing a manual review by our administrative team.

3.2 What types of vehicles are available?

Our platform supports the full spectrum of Sri Lankan transport. Depending on your group size and preferences, you can request:

  • Motor Bike (1-2 passengers) - Perfect for adventurous solo travelers or couples.
  • Scooter (1-2 passengers) - Ideal for city exploration and short trips.

4.1 Can hotels or travel agents use the platform?

This provides a reliable, verified transport solution without the need to maintain an expensive fleet. You can review competitive bids, secure the lowest rate, and provide a premium service to your clients.
